Overview
This is a small freeware* utility for creating fractal snowflakes, patterns and backgrounds. It has several options to control the shape and colors of the resulting image and is able to save generated images to Windows Bitmap (.BMP) files and Adobe Illustrator 7.0 .AI (EPS) files*.
* Though the utility is freeware (i.e. you can use all of it's features as long as you like at no charge), the sole extra feature of saving the snowflake to .AI is available to paid users only. What to do with the produced files?
Of course, it's hard to use these images as the final result on your web site or anywhere else. They should be treated as a good material for further processing in Photoshop or other similar software. With Photoshop, you can apply miscellaneous effects to these images, create seamless backgrounds, etc.
If you become a registered user, you will be able to export snowflakes as vector files (.AI). These vector-based graphics can be then used in Adobe Illustrator, CorelDRAW or similar software to produce nice composite effects. Moreover, you can use these vector snowflakes to make guilloche-style patterns, making documents that will be harder to counterfeit.
The original snowflake (Img. 1) has been post-processed in Photoshop (Img. 2, 3).
